Center Of Excellence in Parenting
Welcome to our Center of Excellence in Parenting
Background
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. SDG 4 focuses on Quality Education and to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.” Responding to immense demand, Parenting for Lifelong Health (PLH) is at the forefront of a global movement to scale inclusive playful parenting solutions to every parent, everywhere – especially to those living in the Global South (low and medium income countries) and in crisis situations.
Overalls Goals and Objectives
The overall goal is to make a substantial contribution to achieving SDG4 (Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all), along with other SDG outcomes linked to child learning and wellbeing through the scale-up of inclusive, evidence-based playful parenting support on a systemic level. As part of a collective movement dedicated to scaling playful parenting solutions, we support PLH in aiming to improve parent-child relationships and learning through play, which will, in turn, reduce violence against children (SDG16), improve parental mental health (SDG3), and improve family nurturing care behaviours, male engagement, and partner relationships (SDG5), resulting in improved child development and education outcomes (SDG4).
We aim to improve child development and learning through play and reduce family violence by firmly establishing a national and wider regional infrastructure to support locally led scale-up of evidence-based, playful parenting solutions integrated within government, civil society, and private sector systems nationally – North Macedonia, regionally – the Wester Balkans and beyond- the Global South / LMIC (low- and middle-income countries).
Furthermore, we disseminate solutions for parenting for children in crisis and parenting children with disabilities and other vulnerabilities.
Our Manifesto
Our shared vision is that every parent / caregiver, everywhere, has the possibility to improve child’s development and learning outcomes, as well as reduce family violence. Our activities focus on Building long-term sustainability for scaling playful parenting nationally – North Macedonia, regionally – the Wester Balkans and beyond- the Global South / LMIC (low- and middle-income countries) through Parenting for Lifelong Health (PLH) and with the support of the Global Parenting Initiative (GPI).
